SIGN ON: Immediate Action to Contain the Guimaras Oil Spill PDF Print E-mail
We are soliciting your kind support on behalf of the People of Guimaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental who are now dealing with the Oil Spill that is damaging the coastlines of these island provinces, particularly hard-hit Guimaras.

Response is slow and no definite action to contain the massive oil spill is in progress. This is the worst oil spill in Philippine history, affecting many coastal villages, 200 miles of coastlines, and very sensitive ecological areas in the Visayas including over 1000 acres of mangroves and seaweed areas. Many have presented symptoms of physical, psychological and mental effects of the contamination of soil and air environment.

This petition demands immediate action of the Philippine Government and the Petron Corporation.  It will be sent to Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the Members of the Congress through Senator Manny Villar, President of the Philippine Senate.
